Hello,

My Type 34 was recently involved in an accident. All right side quarter panels were hit and my right side door is no good. The door honges have long ago been bad. Doe sanyone know about a door hinge rebuilt kit or have a complete right door in need of a car? any help will be greatly appreciated.

thank you,
Emmanuel De Los Reyes,

Door hinge rebuild kits are not available. A few years back Copello metal works offered an exchange rebuild service, but as far as I know they have stopped offering this.

The process is not too difficult for a machine shop to carry out, and usually involves turning a new bush on a lathe and refinishing the existing pin. If the pin is too badly corroded then a new pin may be required. Likewise, if the hinge itself is corroded it may need to be bored and an oversize bush used.

Hope this helps.

Ugh, sorry to hear about the accident. :(

I think that one of our old time members, Einstein might be doing some rebuild kits. I'll get him to post here if he is!
