Where can I get a motor for a T34 (1963)? 5 years 3 weeks ago #6453

Have an electric conversion Karmann Ghia T34 (1963); am considering converting back to a gas-powered motor. Any ideas where I can find a good replacement motor? Car is located in North Carolina.

Hi Amy -
They are fairly available - just a type 3 motor.
But, I always thought that electric T34 was a cool car!
Does it need allot of work?

Hi, Tom,
Thanks for your note.
My '63 T34 is a lovely one. I do love it.
The battery-powered system isn't running well. Not running currently.
Haven't had a lot of success finding someone around here who can get it going.
The body and everything is still in great shape.
Maybe it's time for me to upgrade the system??

Have you tried Brian at Monkeynut Vintage VW specalists? He's located in Charlotte NC.If he can't build/sell you an engine, he might know someone who can build one for you.
